Going Green in 2019: 3 things DIALOGers are doing to make a difference

April 7, 2020

25% of respondents are committed to ditching the car in favour of using more sustainable transportation options. More walking, cycling, and public transportation topped our list. Not only are these options better for the environment, each of these is something we can start today.

Looking for more resources? City websites have plenty of information when it comes to how we move. Visit your city website for links to public transportation, cycling routes, and walking maps!

22% of respondents are determined to reduce consumption. The top offenders? Energy, consumerism, unnecessary printing, plastic use, and waste. There was a clear theme that it’s time for convenience to take a back seat to environmental responsibility.

How can you get started? Energy efficient lighting and appliances, WaterSense products, working digitally, avoiding single-use plastics, and purchasing no more than what you need.

14% of respondents want to acquire new knowledge and skills to tackle climate change head on. Completing a LEED accreditation, WELL certification, and discovering new sustainable technologies topped DIALOGers lists. This passion extends beyond our own learning, as many individuals are excited to share this knowledge with our clients so we can fight climate change together.

In 2017, DIALOG signed on to The American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2030 Commitment to design all new buildings as carbon-neutral by 2030. These targets may be met by implementing innovative sustainable design strategies, generating on-site renewable energy, and/or purchasing (20% maximum) off-site renewable energy.
